Love: J Crew Black and White

Monday, October 27th, 2008

This is a great outfit. While I usually go for either bold prints or bright colors, the contrast here is great. I have a white skirt/black shirt combo I frequently wear in the summer, and something like this would make a good cold weather equivalent. The skirt itself seems to have a really nice cut, so it might have possibilities in other colors as well.

New: Club Monaco Outfit

Friday, August 15th, 2008

I went down to Georgetown to shop this afternoon, hoping to grab either some new outfits for the fall or some good deals on end-of-the-summer stuff. By the time I met my friends for dinner, I only had one argyle sweater from Benetton. I was walking back to my car and passed Club Monaco. This great outfit (sans necklace) was in the front, and I went in and bought it. It looks great. The only difference is the belt. This one is printed python and the one I got is patent. I may have preferred the python now that I see it, but I didn’t see that in the store. In any case, I’m quite pleased with this.

New: My most expensive outfit

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

I’ve held off a long time in getting this because it cost $1,000. I finally broke down and I love it so much!

Edit: To the commenters sending nasty, confused notes - these are doctoral robes. You earn them when you get a PhD, and now I own them because I’m a professor and wear them to events like graduation.

Old Navy Outfit

Monday, April 21st, 2008

I now make frequent trips to downtown Silver Spring to pick up either (1) stuff for my house from TruValue, (2) dinner, or (3) cupcakes from CakeLove. I don’t like making these trips in the dirt covered clothes I’m always playing in the yard with, but I also don’t want to get all properly dressed up. I need some kind of casual intermediate wear. Today, I ordered this little outfit from old navy, which should fit the bill for those trips.

But I’m not doing the 80s-vibe ruched up sleeves on the hoodie. I will just wear them straight.

Love: Color Combination

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

I love color, and I really like this double bright combination from J Crew.

I have a ruffle neck red blouse, but would probably like it better with something like this from Banana Republic.

I bought this orange J Crew sweater to go with the Nanette Lepore skirt I found on bluefly:

Want: Nanette Lepore Outfit

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

I love this outfit from Nanette Lepore. I’m a bit hesitant about the high waisted skirt, but  this look is very nice.

Love: Maxstudio.com Outfit

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

This outfit is great. I have several of the elements. I have those exact boots. I also have a very similar skirt and a blouse that would work as the top. I have never found a cardigan that worked for me like this, but I’m always looking.

Love: Anthropologie Outfit

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

I like a lot about the idea of this outfit from Anthropologie. The fitted tank, the short sleeves, the heels and pants are great. The fabric of those pants also looks really nice. I don’t like the puffiness of the sleeves, and I’d worry for me that the wide legs are not the best option. Nanette Lepore had an analagous look last year - sweater vest, blouse, pants. I’d like to find something equivalent this year.

Confession: I am big a dork

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

True, I love designer clothes. I can talk all about them. At this point, I can even wear them out of the house looking decent and fool people into thinking I’m fashionable and maybe even chic.

But at home with the blinds closed, I am really a big dork. Here’s what I was wearing between all the outfit pictures: a white skirt from gap and a Coke t-shirt in Hebrew that I bought at the Coke store in Las Vegas a couple years ago. (no, I’m not jewish. It’s just cool.)
