Missed: Senatorial Staff Dress

Monday, January 11th, 2010

When I found Modcloth last week, I was very sad to find that this dress was sold out. I love it and only hope that they get some more.

I haven’t been shopping much in a while, but I’m getting back to looking. Hopefully, my poor neglected blog will start getting some more attention this week!

Alas, this Badgley Mischka dress is not available in my size. Otherwise, I’d have it!

Missed: Jill Stuart Coat

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

I was browsing Bluefly today and found this amazing coat. It was already out of stock by the time I looked at it, though. It’s too bad - I absolutely would have bought it if it were available in my size.

Missed: BCBG Dress

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

I’m obsessed with BCBG this month. I found this dress at Bluefly. I love it, but they only have it in a 4. Sigh.

BCBG Dress

Update! It turns out I’m a size 4 in BCBG. So I got this dress and it’s great.

Missed: Betsey Johnson Dress

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

I thought I’d missed this Betsey Johnson dress. I’d held off on buying it and then it disapepared in my size. However, today it showed up in my size so I snatched it up at 70% off!

BUT, today Nordstrom cancelled my order :( It turned out that someone beat me to it. So this one got away, too.

Missed: Laundry Top

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

I have a habit of holding off on buying expensive things that I love, and then, when I finally convince myself to buying them, they are gone. This almost happened with the Marc Jacobs shoes, but I pulled them out with a little help. This top (Laundry by Shelli Segal) is entering into the land of the missed, I’m afraid. It’s sold out at Nordstrom, and I can’t find it anywhere else.

Look at the details (click for a bigger picture). The ruffle is the most obvious, but that isn’t nearly my favorite part. First, there is the great curve of the cut, which really accents the waist. The loops for the buttons also add great visual interest. Above the ruffle is a traditional collar, which prevents this from being Renaissance Fair cheezy like a lot of ruffled shirts are.

My favorite part is the sleeves. They aren’t cap sleeves, but real, short sleeves. Those are hard to find. The ruffle at the edge is nice, but the band above it is a great structural detail that I find so appealing.

If anyone runs into a place that is still selling this in a Small, please let me know!
