Want: One more BCBG
Sunday, March 30th, 2008Not that this will be the only BCBG dress that I want, but this one is the same as two others I have - it’s identical to the pink and brown flowered one from last summer. But I know I’d wear it a lot.

People have the impression that I have a massive shoe collection, but really, I have only one pair in each color (black, navy, brown, red, etc). All together, I maybe have 6 or 7 pairs of heels including the going out ones that I rarely wear.
Thus, it may come as a shock for people to know that I have NO pink shoes. I used to have two pairs, both of which I wore so much that I had to throw them away. They were beyond repair. I really need some for this time before I can wear sandals but when I can start wearing my more summery dresses. Today, I ordered these by Anne Klein. I’m not totally sold on that bow, but I think I can always have my shoe guys switch it out if I really don’t like it.

Here is the second of the Max Studio dresses that I found and love. I can totally see wearing this to work.
Today I scoped out Max Studio and found a couple great dresses. Here’s one of them. It comes in a white/blue mix, but I like this one best.
I am a loyal wearer of Converse Jack Purcells. I have been a converse fan since high school, really.
I’m finding that now that I have lots of work to do on my new house, I’m frequently running to Home Depot or Tru Value in jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie. This is not my usual running-out wear. The outfits, nor the things I must lift in them, do not lend themselves to heels. However, my sneaker collection is extremely limited. I’ve been looking around for some, and though these are weird, I really kind of love them.
The Sartorialist posted this photo last week. I made a comment saying something like the outfit was great except for the fur, which just screams cruelty to me. I’m not a fringe opinion here - fur has not been politically correct for a long time, and lots of major labels are vowing not to use it. Sart posts pictures that include fur not-infrequently, and I comment on it every time. Yet he never approves my comments. They aren’t wacked out PETA rants. They just include a mention that the cruelty of the fur really detracts from the look.
It really bothers me that he doesn’t post my comments (which must be a few of MANY, since fur haters are not a silent group). I understand he wants the comments to be about the outfits, but this is totally relevant to that discussion. Would *you* want people to feel the urge to vomit when you walk past in an outfit? Doesn’t this choice speak strongly about a person’s ethics and choices? It certainly seems as relevant as a discussion on whether the scale of two plaids works. I feel that his choice to disapprove very legitimate, considerate, non-ranting comments that express more than an “The fur doesnt’ work” about outfits is basically taking the pro-fur side. Certainly, it’s his blog and he has no obligation to make it a balanced discussion in the comments, but….
His position makes me sad. I like his work, but if he is pro-fur as he comes off in his moderating, I’m not sure I want to keep looking at it. Would he want the same things done to his pets that are done to fur animals? Can any person with an ounce of compassion or humanity in them support that industry after understanding the truly disgusting, cruel, stomach-turning things they do? Just thinking about the suffering those animals are subjected to makes me want to cry; it’s like thinking about people hitting infants. He can’t be so oblivious as to not know about the way they torture animals, because this is a huge issue in his industry.
When people do not feel the appropriate level of outrage when they see people wearing fur, I doubt their moral base and their humanity. Sart clearly does not feel that outrage, and the fact that he suppresses the comments that speak out against fur’s use in fashion suggests to me that he may actually support it. In my mind, that is unforgivable, and it’s very very disappointing to me that I’m in this position of deciding to abandon an otherwise good site because it passively advocates immoral principles.
I don’t own any animal print, but I am strangely drawn to these cheetah print shoes…
